Our story

A company of operators, not middlemen.

Everyday Luxury Vacation Rentals was founded in 2019 by Shevy Akason and John Burns, two vacation home owners who built the property management company they always wished had existed for themselves. Before Everyday Luxury, they lived the frustration firsthand: entrusting their own homes to managers who never treated them the way an owner would. So they set out to do it differently. With decades of combined experience in real estate investing and hospitality, they created a company run by operators, not middlemen, where every home is held to the same standard the founders demand of their own.

Today, our small but growing team manages a curated portfolio across coastal, desert, lake, mountain, and city destinations, guided by a simple principle: owner-operators first, hosts always. We have skin in the game, actively owning vacation rentals in the very places we manage for others, which keeps our interests aligned with the owners who trust us and the guests who stay with us. That is why so much of our growth comes from word of mouth. For guests, it means the stay you never have to think about. For owners, it means a partner who has stood exactly where you are standing.

Investing in real estate since 1996. He owned and managed a hotel in Utah from 1992 to 1996, where the hospitality side of his work began.
